First Impressions – Revue Starlight Re LIVE

Wow, I haven’t posted anything in half a year. There’s this 3D game called Life and it’s been taking up too much of my time! 😛

Anyway, without further ado, here is my first impression of Revue Starlight Re LIVE, a turn-based JRPG now available on Android and iOS!

As mentioned above, Revue Starlight Re LIVE is a mobile game now released for Android and iOS devices. Ahead of launch, a preregistration campaign was held. All of the campaign goals were met, awarding new players nine two-star units based on the girls of the main school.

In Revue Starlight Re LIVE, we follow a group of girls who attend a Performing Arts School, Seisho Music Academy. Stories are disappearing from the world, causing people to forget them. One story happens to be the Seisho girls’ favorite called “Starlight”. In order to save “Starlight” and other disappearing stories, the girls must outshine three other schools in missions (called auditions) to become top performers and provide brilliance to their favorite stories.

As you progress through the game, you have the ability to collect more performers and power up their skills to become the best of the best. It’s just like other gacha-based games, characters you can get are all randomly generated, and can be from any one of the four schools in the game.

The game plays somewhat similar to FateGO. Each girl has attributes that have strengths and weaknesses, and you’ll have to strategize on how to play their abilities to succeed in quests and PvP. There are quests, or assignments, you can complete for rewards like gems, coins, and stamina. And, using premium currency, you can press your luck and spin the gacha for more characters.

Unlike other games with a PvP feature, there is no guild or alliance system. Not yet, anyway. I don’t know if there will ever be one, but I think it would be a nice edition.

I, personally, became a paid supporter of this game when I learned that one of my favorite voice actresses, Tomori Kusunoki, had a role in the game. I didn’t hesitate to drop a few dollars for gems (premium currency) to try and scout out her character.

Luck was on my side when I pulled a four-star version on her character, Tamao Tomoe. I quickly raised her star level to five and powered up her skills soon after. She’s been a staple in my team since then.

I haven’t gotten that far into the game yet, but from what I’ve played so far, I’m really enjoying it. I highly recommend the game for those interested in turned-based RPGs or JRPGs in general.

I also hear that there’s an anime on HiDive as well, so I’m going to need to find time to watch it.

If you also play Revue Starlight Re LIVE, or are watching the anime on HiDive, comment below on your thoughts of the game/anime. Also, I provided my ID in the image below. Feel free to follow me and comment below if you do. I’ll follow you back!
