Light Novel First Impressions: The White Cat’s Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King’s Lap

Today, I’ll be giving my first impressions on the Light Novel “The White Cat’s Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King’s Lap”. Gotta love these lengthy titles!

Here’s a synopsis as given by Anime News Network:

Nineteen-year-old Ruri Morikawa gets wrangled into a messy situation when her selfish childhood friend strands her in another world. To make matters somehow worse, a mysterious conspiracy then gets her abandoned in a perilous forest. Through an unexpected turn of events, she comes into possession of a mystical bracelet that allows her to transform into a white cat. Now that she’s in the Land of the Dragon King, she must hide the fact that she’s human—which means spending her days as a little white cat, for the time being while plotting her revenge.

Yes, another isekai that’s peaked my interest. It does seem like Ruri’s somewhat of an OP protagonist, but was warned about over-exerting when it comes to using her magic, so her OP-ness isn’t really known by the public. And I find her idea of revenge super cute! It’s not the usual “burn and destroy” like most people would think of doing for revenge. No, Ruri’s idea of revenge was roundhouse kicks and shaving people bald. Super harmless!

It’s refreshing finding an isekai that doesn’t have a “hero summoned to defeat the demon lord” trope. I’m interested in continuing the adventure this book takes my imagination on. It’s a really nice read and I recommend taking a peek at it if you have the time.

As of this writing, the first 4 parts of Volume 1 is published on J-Novel Club. J-Novel Club is a company that licenses manga and light novels and translates them for their app. Each volume is broken down to 8-10 (sometimes more) and is updated weekly. You can read them all for as low as US$5 a month. They do take older volumes down, so you don’t want to miss out on the good stuff they provide!
